The Smaller Contract Won the Consolidation
Fort Gordon's base operations have gone 8(a) five times running, most recently a $126 million award to KGJJ Engineering. On Friday SBA approved the consolidated follow-on as a HUBZone set-aside, which is the program the $8 million enclave contract next door carries. Plus $611 million at OMDAC with no option years left and 54 days to run.
In April 2014 the Army put Fort Gordon's base operations on a sole-source 8(a) bridge to Akima Global Services. Eleven months later it did the same thing again. In 2016 it signed a third 8(a) sole source, booked in the record as a six-month bridge, which ran until July 2019. Then it competed the work in 2019 and again in 2022, both times inside the 8(a) program.
Five awards, twelve years, $283 million, one program.
On Friday afternoon SBA approved the one that breaks the streak.
