One Award in Ten Drew a Crowd
The holiday pushed this week's first contract boards to Tuesday and Wednesday. Ten new awards landed across the two of them, worth $9.15 billion, and seven solicited exactly one source. The one that drew nine offers is 1.1% of the money. Also on the boards: a sole-source bridge that announces its own breakup, and a $33 million modification that unannounced itself a day later.
Monday's holiday pushed this week's first two daily boards to Tuesday and Wednesday. Ten new contract actions between them, worth $9,152,466,794.
Seven of the ten solicited exactly one source.
"How much of a week's announced money was ever available to anybody?"
On these two boards it is $99,000,000, or 1.1%, and all of it is one Army IDIQ that drew nine bids (chart below).

Sunday we ran the same count from the other end, on work leaving instead of arriving: 307 of the 505 DoD contracts over $50M expiring between April 2027 and September 2028 reached their incumbent without a contested bid.
The arriving side had a harder week than that.
A Bridge That Announces Its Own Breakup
The Defense Health Agency gave Leidos $317,986,855 for MHS GENESIS, and said in the announcement itself that it is taking the work apart.
