Nine of Eleven Awards Don't Come Back Until 2030

You can read a day's contract announcements two ways. As a list of who won, or as a list of dates when the work comes back.

Wednesday's board rewards the second reading. Eleven new contract awards, $534,288,934 between them, and nine carry a completion date in 2030 or later (chart below).

Nothing on the page is a headline program. That is what makes it worth ten minutes.

The Air Force Bought Four More Years of VMware

The line to look at is $82,884,761 to Carahsoft Technology Corp. for VMware Cloud Foundation licenses and product support for the Air Force Network. Sole source, completion August 5, 2030, with only $14,229,202 obligated at award out of fiscal 2026 operations and maintenance (FA8772-26-F-B088, AFLCMC at Maxwell Gunter Annex).

Five months earlier, DISA put a five-year, $970M blanket purchase agreement in place with the same reseller for the same platform. Announced March 24, it consolidated several separate Broadcom software contracts and named the Fourth Estate, the Air Force, the Space Force and the combatant commands as ordering components.

The announcement doesn't say the AFNET order rides that BPA, and the award hasn't surfaced in FPDS yet, so we're leaving the parentage alone. What's already on the record does the work: the department funneled its VMware buy onto one reseller in March, and in August its largest network bought four more years without a competition.

Broadcom holds no GSA Schedule of its own, so its products reach agencies through resellers. That structure is why "sole source" is the accurate label on a line item this size.
