Who Skips a Recompete They Were Winning?
The 96th Test Wing just handed four companies the same $4,706,351.30, to the cent. Five years of delivery orders on the vehicle it replaces show that the two seats taking the most money are the two missing from the list.
Four award notices went up at Eglin this afternoon between 2:02 and 3:12 Eastern, each one naming a different company.
Each one was for $4,706,351.30. The same number, to the cent, four times.
That is the 96th Test Wing closing out the recompete of its Powertrain multiple-award IDIQ (FA248626RB004), and the identical amounts are the giveaway. The figure on a MAC award notice is a ceiling allocation, and it tells you nothing about anyone's revenue.
"If four companies all won the same dollars, who actually got paid on the last one?"
The vehicle that just expired answers that, and we pulled the whole order book to find out.
Eight Offers, Six Seats, $2.1 Million
The predecessor went out as a total small-business set-aside and drew 8 offers. Six took seats, all signed 2021-10-13, each carrying a base-and-all-options value of $4,750,000.00.
Last date to order on all six was 2026-10-12. The recompete's award date is 2026-10-13, the next morning, which is tighter than most offices manage.
Every delivery order signed under FA248722D0100 through D0106 comes to 46 orders, 83 actions, $2,150,873.42 across the full five years.
Against $28.5M of combined ceiling that is 7.55% used, and the largest single order on the entire vehicle was $226,800.00.
