Dataminr's Second Recompete Went Nothing Like Its First
A $317.8 million follow-on landed on Wednesday's board eight offers deep and 30 days before the incumbent contract expires. Last cycle the same requirement lived on four consecutive bridges for 402 days, and this week DISA opened its EM5 recompete with a year of runway.
In May 2020, the Air Force District of Washington bought three months of Dataminr's First Alert license for $12,180,000.
In August it bought three more months. In December, three more. In March 2021, three more.
Four bridge contracts, $50,942,666, 402 days of coverage, all to hold an alerting subscription in place while the follow-on got itself sorted out. That follow-on, PADELS, was awarded June 26, 2021 and runs out on Sept. 25, 2026.
Wednesday's board closed the loop 30 days ahead of that date.
